Solvitose for Felting – Textile Stiffening Agent

Solvitose is a special textile adhesive used in felting to create a firm, starchy effect. It helps felted items retain their shape and structure, making it indispensable for hat making (felt and velor hats), floor lampshades, flowers, and designer pieces—any project where stability and form are essential.

Solvitose is also widely used in the felting process to create viscose or silk paper.
This fine white powder is a starch-derived compound (a high-molecular carbohydrate) obtained from plant-based raw materials.

How to prepare a Salvitose solution
Dissolve 1 teaspoon of powder in ½ cup of warm water.
Stir until the mixture reaches a jelly-like consistency.
Let the solution stand for approximately 12 hours before use.
Apply the solution by soaking the damp felted item or by brushing/sponging it onto the surface. Once dry, the stiffening effect remains, while no visible residue is left on the material.

Storage
Any unused solution can be stored in a sealed container in the Fridge for later use.
